Physical Improvement Grant Program

The Physical Improvement Grant helps business owners in the District help improve the exterior appearance of their property. Grant funds can match improvement costs up to $10,000 and may be used for exterior improvements, landscaping, signage and/or public beautification. Applicants must submit a plan for facade and/or streetscape improvements containing a description and illustration of planned improvements and an itemized budget, including design, installation and fabrication costs.
Free professional design consultation is provided to approved applicants of the grant program. The program requires that all proposals meet the guidelines which can be found below.

One-On-One Design Assistance Program

As our name (Coliseum Central Business Improvement District) implies, our physical improvements program is here to assist our members with suggestions on appropriate design for improving the exterior appearance of their business or property. Our One-on-One Design Assistance Program offers free professional design consultation (including drawings and plans of the proposed upgrades) and is available to all businesses in Coliseum Central.

Design Trends Lecture Series

The BID hosts a quarterly lecture series to inform and educate local property owners about the importance of using sound design principles when building on their property or upgrading existing buildings. Recent Design Trends lectures have covered topics such as "The importance of promoting pedestrian connectivity" and "How well designed commercial signs can help businesses compete". These lectures are presented free and they are open to the public.

Public Fixtures Enhancement Program

Under this program the BID sets aside funds to support the upgrade of public fixtures and amenities when such upgrades will significantly improve the physical appearance of the District. Examples of such enhancements include the installation of upgraded bus stop benches and bus shelters.
